Comparison of advantages and disadvantages of square PIN pin and round copper pin:

For square PIN pins, the advantage is that the end of the thread is better controlled, and it is not easy to produce thread ends, especially for small products, if there is a thread end on the pin, it is a great risk; In addition, the pinhole of the pin can be designed without the exhaust hole, the square PIN pin is inserted into the round hole, and the air in the hole can be discharged from the gap between the four sides of the square PIN pin; Another very important disadvantage is that if the copper wire is less than 0.1, it must be folded and then wrapped, otherwise the square PIN needle is easy to cut the copper wire, and there is a risk of disconnection in the production line or client!

For round copper needles, the advantage is that the ultra-fine copper wire wrapping does not have to be folded first, and the other is that the stability of the pins is very good after soldering, because the circumferential surface is close to the pinhole, plus the bite flower, so it is very stable and suitable for the use of large wire diameters; The disadvantage is that the exhaust hole should be designed in the pinhole, otherwise the air in the hole cannot be discharged, and the pin will expand and even fall off when immersed in tin; Then the end of the winding thread is easy to loosen and produce the thread!

Round copper pins are more commonly used for skeletons, and square PIN pins are mostly square; The general circuit board is round hole processing, which depends on the design is defined by the diameter of the hole, the round hole is based on the diameter of the hole, the skeleton provided by the supplier is a square PIN pin, it should be noted that the specification is generally marked as the side length, but the real square diagonal is the standard to determine whether the plug-in can be good.

The round copper needle is commonly used, not so sharp, the square PIN needle has a sharp edge, and compared with the automatic winding, the hanging wire is not easy to get off the line.

The square copper pin specifically refers to the square pins, and the round PIN pin is a round pin as the name suggests! Most of the pins of the transformer skeleton are round pins, because the holes of the round pins are round holes, which are suitable for automatic operation! The square pins are not as easy to operate as the round pins!

We have discussed this problem, whether it is a square PIN pin or a round PIN pin, in fact, the effect is the same at the PCB assembly end, there is no better difference, the general customer PCB aperture will be at least 0.3 larger than the pin diameter, and there is no obvious difference between the two pins in the plug-in board and PCB soldering effect! And there is no obvious good or bad on the pin, the key depends on how well the hole and pin design match!

However, now there is a combination of square PIN needle and round copper needle, both sides are curved and have teeth, and the other two sides are flat, so as to combine the advantages of the two pins, avoid the shortcomings, and reduce the requirements for biting flowers, We use this kind of PIN needle!

1. The square PIN needle has edges and corners, the hanging line is not easy to slide, when the needle is wrapped, it is impossible to wrap to the root of the PIN foot, in the process of pressing down, the thin line is easy to scratch and scrape, and the round copper needle is easy to slide, so it is easy to operate;

2. After soldering, the square PIN pin may become larger, and the plug-in board is not very easy to insert;

Use of round copper pins:

1. Most of the skeletons use round copper pins, and only a few will be square PIN pins (such as EPC type, SMD type);

2. The use of round copper needles and square PIN pins is almost the same, and the round copper needles are easy to produce tail threads, and the square PIN pins are much better;

3. The tolerance of the needle diameter is generally ±0.05mm/±0.1mm;

There are more common round copper pins:

Square PIN pin, easy to hang the wire, not easy to slip, of course, the disadvantages are also obvious, especially in the case of thin wire diameter, easy to hang up the enameled wire;

Round copper pin, hanging wire is easy to slide, hanging wire needs to be wound a few more times, otherwise it is easy to fall, and the round copper pin is more convenient to solder in PCB;

Because in PCB design, most projects use circular openings, and rarely square openings.
